SAHBA Food Drive Hits $20,000 Goal

September 30, 2002

The Southern Arizona Home Builders Association's (SAHBA) Summer Food Drive has successfully reached its $20,000 cash goal from its members. The collection of public donations will end at the SAHBA Fall Home & Garden Show, Oct. 18-20, at the Tucson Convention Center.

A.F. Sterling Homes assisted with the project's implementation and fund-raising among the organization's membership.

In April, SAHBA began its 7-month-long campaign for the Community Food Bank with Garrett’s Supermarkets. The long summer period was picked as the focal point for the food drive because that is when donations drop off dramatically.

CFB Executive Director Punch Woods said this is the longest, continuous campaign they have ever tried. Only an organization like SAHBA could coordinate such a huge project and do it effectively, he said.

At the SAHBA Home Show, Cans & Coins will be collected to help end hunger in Pima County.
